Four deaths in a single day: Italy needs urgent, structural measures to stop workplace tragedies
Unimpresa has raised a strong alarm after four workers died in one day across Italy — in Turin, Rome, Monza, and Catania.
According to Giuseppe Ciarcelluto, national councilor of Unimpresa for workplace safety and president of Assidal, this is not a series of accidents but a national emergency. He calls for a National Extraordinary Safety Plan based on three pillars: high-quality mandatory training, systematic inspections, and a stronger network of prevention experts.
Temporary measures and cost-cutting contracts can no longer justify risking lives. For Unimpresa, safety is not bureaucracy, but a moral, civil, and strategic duty. Prevention is also an investment: it reduces risks, boosts productivity, protects company reputation, and creates healthier workplaces.
Unimpresa pledges to continue supporting companies with its network of trainers and consultants, but urges government and Parliament to act immediately: behind every statistic there is a broken life, a grieving family, and a wounded community.
