When art takes to the streets: Cento Pittori Via Margutta land in Montesacro

For the first time outside their historic location, the artists of Via Margutta bring their work to Piazza Sempione with music, workshops, and culture for everyone

A historic debut for Roman art

From May 30 to June 1, 2025Piazza Sempione becomes an open-air gallery as the Cento Pittori Via Marguttaleave their famous street for the first time ever and arrive in the heart of Rome’s Municipality III – Montesacro. Sponsored by the Lazio Region and Municipio III, the initiative brings together painting, music, storytelling, and education in one of Rome’s most iconic neighborhoods.

Piazza Sempione: where architecture and creativity meet

Designed in 1919 by architect Gustavo GiovannoniPiazza Sempione sits at the center of the Città Giardino area. This setting becomes the stage for an inclusive artistic experience that links contemporary paintings to children’s workshopsclassical concerts, and talks with top experts in archaeology, space science, and ancient cultures.

A fresh start for the artists of Via Margutta

As stated by the newly elected President Antonio Servillo, this event marks the beginning of a new chapter:
“Our goal is to take Via Margutta’s art to all parts of the city, sharing beauty and creativity with every Roman and beyond.”

A three-day celebration of art in all forms

In addition to the exhibition of paintings, the program includes:

  • Creative workshops for children
  • The book presentation “Montesacro… Il mio primo quartiere” by Guido Di Sepio
  • A talk on Egyptian color theory by Agnese Iob, Egyptologist and Vatican Museums collaborator
  • A lecture on light beyond the visible by Mattia Stipa, aerospace engineer and ESA manager
  • concert by the youth orchestra “Amadè” conducted by Marco Giannoni
  • A talk on prehistoric elephants in Montesacro by Professor Alessandro Guidi, University of Roma Tre

With the involvement of students from the Luciano Bramante Art High School, the event also highlights intergenerational dialogue between tradition and innovation.
