Targeted checks in the Camaro district
As part of operations to prevent and suppress crimes in the city of Messina, the State Police arrested a 30-year-old man for possession of illegal weapons and drugs. The operation, led by Police Commissioner Annino Gargano, focused on the Camaro district, known for its legal challenges.
Officers from the Mobile Squad, along with the Investigative Section of the Central Operations Service (SISCO), carried out several home searches to locate illegally possessed weapons.
A hidden weapon discovered in the roof
During the search of one of the inspected homes, officers found a .32-caliber revolver without a serial number loaded with five 7.65-caliber bullets. The weapon, hidden under roof tiles and accessible via a skylight, was accompanied by additional ammunition of the same caliber and about 30 grams of cocaine.
Arrest and seizure
With the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the weapon and ammunition were promptly seized and handed over to the Forensic Police for technical and ballistic tests. The thirty-year-old was arrested and taken to prison, where he remains at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
Presumption of innocence
It is crucial to emphasize that the individual is presumed innocent during this preliminary investigation phase. The trial, conducted with full legal guarantees before an impartial judge, will determine any potential responsibility.
