Donald Trump has once again made headlines with his bold statements on Gaza, Russia, and national security, outlining an aggressive and ambitious agenda. From supporting Arab nations in rebuilding Gaza to opposing Hamas, praising Elon Musk, and seeking to end the Ukraine conflict, Trump’s speech to Congress was a mix of applause, protests, and ironclad promises.

Trump on Gaza’s Future: No Room for Hamas

The Trump administration has welcomed the contribution of Arab nations to the reconstruction of Gaza but remains firm on one key point: Hamas cannot stay in power.

According to Brian Hughes, spokesperson for the National Security Council, the president is determined to remove Hamas’ control over the Gaza Strip. “Trump has a clear vision of a post-war Gaza and sees Arab allies as essential for regional stability,” Hughes told The Times of Israel.

This stance aligns with Washington’s broader Middle East strategy, seeking to reshape regional dynamics with the help of key partners like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, viewed as critical players in ensuring Gaza’s security and development.

Trump Fires Up Congress: “America Is Back”

Addressing a packed and divided chamber, the president delivered a bold message: “America is back.” His statement was met with standing ovations from Republicans and patriotic chants, while Democrats responded with boos and protests.

Trump emphasized that he had ended the “dictatorship of political correctness”, declaring that the United States “will no longer be a woke country.” This attack on left-wing ideology sparked cheers from conservatives and outcry from progressives.

One of the most notable moments was Trump’s praise for Elon Musk, which received a standing ovation from some and harsh criticism from others. Democratic Representative Al Green, a known Trump critic, was even escorted out of the chamber after interrupting the speech in protest.

Trump Promises “True Democracy” and Less Bureaucracy

Trump took pride in his efforts to restore free speech and combat censorship in the United States.

“We have taken power back from the unelected bureaucracy, which is unaccountable to the people,” he declared, defending his decision to fire federal employees. According to him, his administration will ensure that the government is streamlined and directly accountable to its citizens.

Other key points of his speech included:

  • Lower taxes for American families
  • Stronger border security, accusing Joe Biden of allowing 21 million illegal immigrants into the country
  • Tougher crime policies, including the introduction of mandatory death sentences for anyone who kills a law enforcement officer

Putin-Zelensky: A Step Toward Peace or Just Rhetoric?

Perhaps the most unexpected moment in Trump’s speech was his announcement regarding peace between Russia and Ukraine. The president stated that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky was ready to sign a rare minerals agreement and begin peace negotiations with Moscow.

“We have had serious discussions with Russia, and we have received strong signals that they are ready for peace,” Trump claimed, hinting at direct talks with the Kremlin.

However, Kyiv quickly dismissed the claim. “Strong signals of peace? Let them stop bombing us,” responded Andriy Kovalenko, a member of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council. According to Ukrainian officials, as long as Moscow continues its daily missile and drone strikes, peace talks remain nothing more than wishful thinking.

Trump Declares “War” on Drug Cartels

Another key point in Trump’s address was his crackdown on crime and drug trafficking. He announced a full-scale war on Mexican drug cartels, which he blamed for violent crimes, including murders and assaults.

He also vowed to implement an extreme measure: a mandatory death penalty for anyone who kills a police officer. This proposal has already sparked controversy among civil rights advocates but has gained support from many conservatives.

Will Greenland Become Part of the U.S.? Trump Won’t Let Go

Finally, Trump revisited a topic he has never fully abandoned: Greenland. During his speech, he reiterated his interest in acquiring the Danish territory, confidently stating: “We will make it happen, one way or another.”

He even addressed Greenland’s residents directly: “We strongly support your right to determine your future. If you choose so, you will be welcomed into the United States of America.”

With a length of one hour and 40 minutes, this was the longest speech ever delivered by a U.S. president to a joint session of Congress.
