Trani shines at the heart of Italian triathlon
With over 400 registered athletes from all over Italy, Trani hosted the 2025 Trani Triathlon Gold Race – No Draft & Aquathlon, turning the coastal gem into a national stage for endurance sport, health awareness and cultural tourism. Organized by the Atletica Tommaso Assi Triathlon Team, the event received backing from leading institutions
Champions crowned and new records set
Sergiy Polikarpenho, a 27-year-old from Turin of Ukrainian origin, and Nicoletta Santonocito of the Magma Team were crowned winners. Also on the podium: Alessia Righetti, Vanessa Lafronza, Alessandro Degasperi, and Michele Insalata.
A unique backdrop for a triathlon celebration
The race course unfolded from the Fishermen’s Bay to the Monastery of Colonna, through the seafront of Trani. Despite strong winds and rough seas, 232 finishers crossed the line after swimming, cycling and running under the applause of an enthusiastic crowd.
Prevention and health at the center
Partnering with LILT and ASL BAT, the event included free HCV tests and cancer screening, showing how triathlon can be a powerful driver of health education and prevention.
Trani, a top sport tourism destination
Alongside the race, visitors enjoyed cultural tours showcasing the beauty of Trani and locations from the popular RAI TV series “Gerry”. A successful blend of sport, wellness and culture.
