Revising the tourism tax
Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè emphasized the need to review the tourism tax for greater proportionality and broader application. Currently, only 1000 municipalities out of approximately 8000 enforce this tax. “Italy is a tourist destination nationwide, and mayors should be able to implement the tax where needed,” Santanchè stated, adding that luxury tourism should not face barriers but those spending significant amounts on suites could contribute more to the system.
Italy and its global impact
The XXIV Edition of the Italia Direzione Nord event, titled Italy, what do you offer the world?, coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. During the event, Minister Santanchè expressed her hope for a future where this day will no longer be needed, symbolizing cultural progress.
Education and women’s employment
Santanchè highlighted that the issue of violence against women stems from cultural factors. “We must teach our sons to love and respect women,” she stated, stressing the role of family education. The minister also reiterated the link between economic independence and women’s freedom, calling for increased rates of female employment.
