Two toddlers and a man dead at sea: the invisible drama that keeps claiming lives
Grief in Lampedusa: three bodies recovered, two of them children
Another heartbreaking chapter unfolded in the Mediterranean Sea. The bodies of two toddlers, around two years old, and a man in his 30s were recovered by the Nadir rescue ship and brought to the morgue of Cala Pisana cemetery in Lampedusa. Three lives lost in the shadows of a desperate journey for survival.
The rescue by ResQship: 57 survivors on board
The rubber boat they were on had been drifting for days after departing from Libya. Only yesterday afternoon, the German NGO ResQship managed to reach them. On board were 57 surviving migrants from Gambia, Ghana, Niger, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Togo, along with the lifeless bodies of the two children and the man.
A recurring horror: invisible deaths in the Mediterranean
The vessel had been spotted by Frontex, but help came too late for some. These migrants, fleeing hardship, had endured days adrift at sea, with little food, no water, and under extreme conditions. Bad weather, exhaustion, and the lack of immediate rescue turned their journey into a deadly trap.
Is Europe still listening?
This is not an isolated event but the latest ignored cry from the sea. Are the deaths of children at sea no longer moving public opinion? The migrant emergency can no longer be hidden or relegated to small news segments. A human and political response is needed—now.
