The dangerous car race
The large parking lot of the Fondi market area became the stage for a dangerous car race, endangering public safety. Several reports to 112 NUE highlighted reckless behavior by young drivers organizing speed challenges. During a police intervention, a yellow Audi lost control, hitting parked scooters that injured two minors as they fell.
The chase and first aid
After the crash, the yellow Audi sped away despite police pursuit. Returning to the accident scene, officers called an ambulance to assist the injured minors, who were transported to Fondi hospital. Witness accounts provided crucial information to identify the vehicle involved.
Identifying the culprits
With the help of witnesses, police traced the license plate of the yellow Audi, registered to a resident of Sperlonga. Although the car was not immediately located, investigations led to the identification of the driver and passenger the following day. It was revealed that the driver, without a valid license, had taken the car without the owner’s consent.
Charges and penalties
The two individuals were reported to the Latina Public Prosecutor’s Office for resistance and providing false statements to public officials. They were also fined for failing to stop and assist the injured minors, as required by traffic laws. The driver was additionally fined for driving without a license.
