A financial emergency dragging on for over a month

For over a monthbank transfers between Italy and Russia have been completely blocked. This situation has thrown over 5,000 Italian citizens residing in Russia, including around 400 retirees, into economic turmoil. Without access to their own funds, they are struggling to afford daily expenses, from essential purchases to rent and utility payments.

Unimpresa sounds the alarm

Unimpresa has raised serious concerns about the lack of action from Italian authorities, warning that the ongoing cash shortage is creating a humanitarian and social crisis for those living in Russia who rely on their savings or remittances from Italy.

The warning from Unimpresa’s vice president

“The banking blockade between Italy and Russia is causing a major crisis for thousands of our fellow citizens, who are now completely cut off from their funds and unable to meet their daily needs,” said Giuseppe Spadafora, vice president of Unimpresa.

The organization is urgently calling on the Italian government to:

  • Investigate the reasons behind the blockage;
  • Take immediate action to restore banking transactions;
  • Push Italian banks to provide clarifications and explore alternative solutions.

Unimpresa remains vigilant

As the crisis deepens, Unimpresa vows to keep monitoring the situation and report any further issues to the authorities. The goal is to protect the rights not only of Italian citizens stranded in Russia but also of businessesaffected by these banking restrictions.
