Operation in Talenti: two suspects stopped
The Carabinieri of the Rome Montesacro Operational Unit, in collaboration with the Prosecutor’s Office, arrested two men aged 44 and 43, strongly suspected of drug possession for trafficking purposes. During an evening patrol in the Talenti district, officers stopped the suspects in a rented Fiat 500 near Piazza Talenti.
The suspects’ nervous behavior prompted the Carabinieri to conduct personal and vehicle searches, uncovering various drugs, including cocaine, MDMA, amphetamines, ketamine, hashish, marijuana, and hallucinogenic mushrooms, as well as €1,835 in cash.
Home searches: over 20 kg of drugs seized
Further investigations led the Carabinieri to search the suspects’ homes. In the 44-year-old’s apartment, they found over 19 kg of drugs, including 2 kg of cocaine, 13 kg of hashish, and 4 kg of marijuana, alongside €60,000 in cash, neatly packaged and suspected to be proceeds from illicit activities.
In total, the operation seized over 20 kg of drugs and €61,835 in cash.
Arrest confirmed and pretrial detention ordered
The two men were taken to Regina Coeli prison. The Rome Tribunal validated the arrests and ordered pretrial detention. It is important to note that the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
