Stage 6 from Potenza to Naples is shortened due to heavy rain. Groves wins the sprint, but Pedersen keeps the pink jersey
Longest stage of the Giro ends early and soaked
Stage 6 of the 2025 Giro d’Italia, covering 227 km from Potenza to Naples, turned into a war of attrition. Rain poured relentlessly over the peloton, leading to multiple crashes, including one involving former Giro champion Jai Hindley.
Race neutralized 60 km from the finish
Faced with the weather emergency and rider safety concerns, the race organizers neutralized the stage with 60 km to go. The result? No time bonuses or changes in the general classification. It was up to the riders if they wanted to continue and sprint for stage glory.
Groves takes the sprint, Paleni and Van der Hoorn shine in breakaway
In a kind of unofficial sprint finish, Australian sprinter Kaden Groves claimed the win in Naples. But the true warriors of the day were Paleni and Van der Hoorn, who led a long breakaway and were only caught with 2 km to go.
Pedersen keeps the pink jersey
With no official time gaps or bonuses assigned, Mads Pedersen remains in the maglia rosa. The fight for the GC continues in the next stages, weather permitting.
