Pro-Russian hackers from the NoName057 group have targeted major Italian infrastructures, including the websites of Malpensa and Linate airports. The attacks, claimed via the group’s Telegram channel, caused accessibility issues for users seeking information on incoming and outgoing flights. Fortunately, the disruptions did not result in any delays but caused significant inconvenience for online consultations.

The hacker group justified the attack as retaliation against Italy’s allegedly “Russophobic” policies, stating, “Italian Russophobes receive a well-deserved cyber response.”

Police intervention and additional targets

The National Cybercrime Center of the Postal Police swiftly responded to the threat, working to restore the affected sites. In addition to the airports, the attacks targeted the foreign ministry website, the Siena Mobility platform, and Turin Transport systems, highlighting a coordinated effort against public and private digital infrastructures in Italy.

These incidents underscore the growing need to enhance national cybersecurity to prevent future threats that, while not disrupting physical services, can cause significant inconvenience and damage institutional reputations.
