A unique musical and spiritual experience

The Teatro Sociale di Fasano is set to host an extraordinary event that combines the power of jazz with deep spirituality. On Sunday, March 16, at 7:00 PM, the audience will have the opportunity to experience “Oratorio in Jazz“, a musical and narrative tribute to the unforgettable figure of Don Tonino Bello. This special edition, created by renowned drummer and composer Antonio Di Lorenzo, promises to be a unique experience, blending captivating melodies and profound texts.

The bond between Antonio Di Lorenzo and Don Tonino Bello

Antonio Di Lorenzo, a central figure in the Italian jazz scene, has a special connection with Don Tonino Bello. For two years, he lived as a conscientious objector alongside the bishop at the Molfetta seminary, embracing his message of peace and humanity. Known as “the saint with an apron“, Don Tonino left a spiritual legacy comparable to figures like Gandhi and Martin Luther King.

An original repertoire of jazz and reflection

The concert is not just a sequence of musical pieces and readings but a true emotional fusion of music and words. The selected texts, curated by Di Lorenzo, with contributions from Elvira Zaccagnino and Giancarlo Piccinni, intertwine with the original compositions of the drummer. Some pieces are inspired by Don Tonino’s words, like “Non il Segno del Potere”, while others evoke moments spent with him, such as “My Gospel for Don Tonino” and “Shqiptare Night Procession”.

An exceptional ensemble

On stage, alongside Di Lorenzo, will be some of Italy’s finest musicians:

  • Davide Saccomanno (keyboards and vocals)
  • Dado Penta (bass)
  • Sabino Fino (tenor sax)
  • Claudio Chiarelli (alto and soprano sax)
  • Mino Lacirignola (trumpet)
  • Vito Topputo (guitar)
  • Gabriele Mastropasqua (baritone sax)

Adding to the experience, the narrating voice of Rosanna Savoia will guide the audience through emotion and reflection.
