A decisive operation against undeclared labor and irregularities in the ethnic catering sector was carried out by the Guardia di Finanza in Prato. The operation, named “Fast food”, uncovered 140 irregular workers, including 55 completely off the books, lacking any labor rights or social security protections.
The inspections, conducted by the Mobile Unit of Prato’s Group under the supervision of the Provincial Command and the Regional Command of Tuscany, targeted 17 commercial establishments across the city and province. A thorough analysis of data and careful monitoring of the area revealed alarming violations that undermine workers’ dignity and promote unfair competition against compliant businesses.
As a result of the checks, the following measures were taken:
- Immediate suspension of 15 restaurants due to serious violations.
- Significant administrative fines to restore safety and legality.
Undeclared labor: a social and economic threat
Undeclared labor is not just an economic issue; it poses a serious social risk. It deprives workers of fundamental rights, security, and dignity, jeopardizing their professional and personal lives. At the same time, it causes significant damage to society, diverting resources and distorting market competition.

“The Fast food operation sends a clear message: there is no room for those who break the rules and exploit vulnerable workers. Our mission is to promote a culture of legality that protects both workers and honest businesses.”
