Six new episodes to celebrate everyday heroism
From November 25 to 30, tune in to Rai3 for the return of “New Heroes.” This program highlights the stories of ordinary people awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Mattarella. Airing Monday to Friday at 8:15 PM and Saturday at 8:35 PM, the show, produced by Stand By Me and Rai Approfondimento with the support of the Quirinale, showcases lives dedicated to altruism and civic commitment.
Stories of dedication and community
Each episode features a unique protagonist:
- Francesco Giannelli Savastano (November 25), founder of Cuore di Mamma Onlus, offering free accommodation to seriously ill children and their families.
- Chiara Amirante (November 26), writer and activist, founder of Nuovi Orizzonti, supporting people in difficult situations for over 30 years.
- Nicola Di Lena (November 27), pastry chef and creator of “Virgola,” a therapeutic bakery helping individuals with disabilities.
- Dario Cherici (November 28), an 80-year-old volunteer dedicated to emergency response for 50 years.
- Maria Teresa D’Oronzio and Michele Lupo (November 29), founders of the Gian Franco Lupo association, aiding pediatric oncology patients.
- Lorenzo Sassaro (November 30), a young astronomy enthusiast who discovered a new variable star.
A compelling narrative
These everyday heroes are portrayed through interviews, testimonials from friends and family, and evocative imagery. Narrated by Veronica Pivetti, the episodes immerse viewers in emotional stories enriched by reenactments and archival footage. Each story concludes with the touching Order of Merit ceremony held at the Quirinale.
