An event for professional growth and active exchange

Gaetano Terlizzi, director of the coop. soc. ConSenso in Caltanissetta, and psychologist Alessandra Sardo participated in the SiMonT conference in Brescia, focused on mountain therapy, an innovative approach to care and rehabilitation through mountain experiences. The event offered a unique opportunity to share knowledge and learn new strategies to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities or other medical conditions.

Mountain therapy: an innovative and therapeutic approach

Mountain therapy combines outdoor activities with educational and rehabilitative methods. Terlizzi stated, “this approach fosters personal and professional growth, pushing towards increasingly extraordinary results.” Featuring 21 research presentations, the event explored topics related to addictions, disabilities, and chronic illnesses, providing concrete tools for inclusive education.

The importance of healthy contexts and active learning

Sardo emphasized how living in structured and non-pathogenic environments enhances psychophysical well-being. Active learning, supported by practical experiences, was highlighted as a key factor in reducing aggressive behaviors and promoting cognitive development. “The mountain is not just a physical place but an educational and therapeutic setting that fosters meaningful relationships and psychological balance,” she explained.

Inclusion and active participation as a mission

A central theme of the conference was the role of active participation. Creating inclusive opportunities for everyone, regardless of difficulties, was highlighted as a fundamental goal. Terlizzi stressed that “the future of educational innovation lies in thinking outside the box and valuing human potential in all its diversity.”

A message for the future

The Brescia event was not just a moment for exchange but also a starting point for new projects. In 2025, mountain therapy will come to Sicily, continuing the message of inclusion and positive change. “Education is a collective process, and through collaboration, extraordinary results can be achieved,” the protagonists concluded.
