Breaking the silence on testicular cancer

On February 4, 2025, coinciding with World Cancer DayMO4MO – MOustache for the MOvement introduces “Explicit Content Check”, a groundbreaking campaign aimed at addressing the lack of awareness surrounding testicular cancer.

Affecting mostly young men aged 15 to 39, testicular cancer is still a taboo subject in Italy. According to the Italian Cancer Registry, in 2022, over 2,000 new cases were diagnosed, with 134 deaths, while 63,000 men are currently living with the disease.

Despite its high sensitivity to chemotherapy and an over 95% survival ratelate diagnosis due to poor awarenessremains a major challenge.

“Explicit Content Check”: an innovative, no-filter approach

To shatter stereotypes and promote education, MO4MO, in collaboration with Next Different, has developed a visual and interactive prevention campaign.

The project includes:
🎸 A music video featuring rock singer Red B, performing “Rock & Ball”, while demonstrating the step-by-step process of testicular self-examination.
🖥️ An interactive landing page, allowing users to perform self-checks using their screen as a mirror.
📲 A social media campaign, launching February 4 on MO4MO’s YouTube and Instagram channels.

“With this campaign, we aim to eliminate taboos and embarrassment, educating men on self-exams and the importance of regular check-ups. Prevention remains our most powerful tool.” – states Carlo Francesco Fazzari, president of MO4MO.

Medical experts stress the importance of early detection

Dr. Giuseppe Mirabella, urologist at Spedali Civili di Brescia, emphasizes the need for men to understand their own bodies:

“Self-examination is a simple routine, best performed once a month from adolescence. Given testicular cancer’s high cure rate, early detection is crucial. Any irregularity should be discussed with a doctor immediately.”

MO4MO encourages everyone to join the campaign and spread the message of awareness and prevention.
