Drug operation: over 30 kg of cocaine seized
On November 29, the Guardia di Finanza conducted a significant drug operation at Olbia port. During checks on trucks arriving from Civitavecchia and Livorno, officers arrested a 37-year-old Italian resident of Cagliari province. He was carrying a load of over 30 kg of cocaine hidden among furniture and home accessories.
Details of the inspection
The operation, conducted during the docking of the Moby ferry from Livorno, focused on heavy vehicles. One driver raised suspicion due to his nervous and awkward demeanor. Thanks to the intervention of drug-sniffing dogs Betty and Dante, the officers discovered the drugs hidden within the cargo.
Ongoing investigations
The investigation, overseen by the Tempio Pausania Prosecutor’s Office, is continuing to determine whether additional narcotics are concealed. This operation is part of a permanent strategy against illegal trafficking led by the Sassari Provincial Command to safeguard public health and ensure a lawful economy.
