The Rai1 event miniseries, Leopardi – The Poet of the Infinite, premieres in prime time on January 7 and 8, 2025. Directed by Sergio Rubini, this ambitious production is a collaboration between Rai Fiction, IBC Movie, Rai Com, and Oplon Film. After its world premiere at the Venice Biennale, the series aims to present Giacomo Leopardi as a compelling figure for new generations.

A genius ahead of his time

This series portrays Leopardi as a brilliant poet, transcending his celebrated verses. Leopardi – The Poet of the Infinite introduces him as an exuberant enfant prodige, far removed from the cliché of a reclusive scholar. Sergio Rubini, in his television directorial debut, highlights a vibrant and rebellious personality who engages with the major themes of his time: love, politics, and the contradictions of the Italian Risorgimento.
