Longobardi’s remarks on Landini and the Cgil
Paolo Longobardi, honorary president of Unimpresa, strongly criticized the general secretary of the Cgil, Maurizio Landini, accusing him of promoting a social climate of opposition that damages the country. “His statements and actions risk fueling tensions that go far beyond the role of a union,” said Longobardi.
A controversial general strike
The general strike called against the budget law is considered a legitimate act in democracy, but Longobardi argues that accompanying it with provocative rhetoric borders on incitement to revolt. “This is not only irresponsible but undermines trust in dialogue as the cornerstone of civil and democratic coexistence.”
Businesses as partners, not enemies
Longobardi emphasizes how Landini’s rhetoric harms the perception of the relationship between businesses and workers. “Businesses, especially small and medium-sized ones, are the engine of employment, not the enemy. Striking against the government means also harming workers and entrepreneurs already struggling under unsustainable fiscal pressure.”
Betraying dialogue
Landini’s reference to “resistance” is seen as abandoning the field of mediation. “This ideological rhetoric offers no solutions but exacerbates tensions. It is a betrayal of the union leader’s role.”
Institutions’ role and the need for unity
Longobardi also criticizes the silence of institutions and the judiciary about this climate of incitement. “Democracy demands not only freedom of expression but also respect for rules and institutions.”
“The future is built through dialogue, not divisions,” concludes Longobardi, calling for unions to become allies for progress once more.
