Mario Calabresi, director of Chora Media, emphasized in an interview with Corriere della Sera that Italy has always shown strong commitment to protecting its citizens abroad. “Italy never leaves its citizens alone,” he stated, recalling his experience with journalist Domenico Quirico’s abduction in Syria during his tenure as director of La Stampa.
