As the weekend and Christmas holidays approach, the Chieti police chief has ordered enhanced territorial controls to counter the rise in property crimes. This measure, decided during the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, involved joint efforts by the local police patrols and the “Abruzzo” Crime Prevention Unit from Pescara.

This morning, during intensified checks, a suspicious vehicle was stopped near the Scalo area. Inside were two convicts from the Pescara area, both unemployed and with criminal records for thefts and robberies. One of them, a 40-year-old from Montesilvano, was under a special preventive surveillance order requiring him to stay in his municipality of residence.

Being in Chieti violated anti-mafia laws, which entail penalties of up to five years of imprisonment. The man was arrested on the spot and taken to court, where the judge validated the arrest. He was subsequently placed under house arrest with an electronic tag. Additionally, the police chief issued an expulsion order barring him from returning to Chieti for four years.

This operation is part of broader efforts to prevent and suppress crimes, ensuring public safety. It is important to note that the arrested individual remains innocent until proven guilty, in accordance with the presumption of innocence.
