ImmunITA, a network making the difference
The first national conference of the ImmunITA Society, dedicated to immune system disorders, concluded with great success at the Meyer Children’s Hospital Campus in Florence. Established as a leading reference in the Italian scientific and clinical landscape, ImmunITA aims to advance research, innovation, and medical care for children and adults affected by immunodeficiencies.
The essential role of patient associations
A key innovation highlighted during the conference was the active involvement of patient associations, now crucial players in shaping health policies, promoting scientific research, and ensuring increasingly personalized care. ImmunITA has successfully built a virtuous network connecting research centers and clinical facilities specialized in pediatric and adult immunology.
Young researchers as future leaders
Significant emphasis was placed on the active participation of younger generations within ImmunITA. More than 50% of the society’s members are young researchers, reflecting the rising enthusiasm and commitment of new talents toward immunology and translational medicine. These young researchers represent the future of innovation in the field of immune system disorders.
Expert voices
Renowned international scientists praised ImmunITA’s multidisciplinary and inclusive approach during the event. Professor Alessandro Aiuti, President of ImmunITA, emphasized that “the active participation of young researchers and strong ties with patient associations form the core pillars of our activities.” Alessandro Segato, president of the patient association AIP, added that their common goal is to “build a scientific community capable of significantly improving patients’ quality of life.”
Towards new national and international collaborations
The conference not only served as a key moment for discussion but also reinforced the connections between scientific research, clinical care, and patient communities. The large number of participants underlined the growing influence of ImmunITA, which now aims to expand further its national and international collaborations.
