The tenth edition of a growing success

The Illumina November campaign, organized by ALCASE Italia, celebrated its tenth anniversary with unprecedented success. As part of the international Lung Cancer Awareness Month, the initiative exceeded expectations, gathering support from institutions, cities, and associations across Italy.

Its primary goal is to break the silence around a disease often overlooked or misunderstood. Lung cancer, still tied to the stigma of being a “smoker’s disease” or labeled as “incurable,” finds in this campaign a powerful means of spreading awareness.

Lighting up cities and hearts

Illumina November encourages decorating symbolic landmarks with the color white to honor the fight against lung cancer. This year, over 250 cities, including 14 regions, participated, alongside prominent institutions such as the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies, and the Ministry of Health. Associations like Confindustria and Confcommercio also joined, amplifying the campaign’s message of support for patients and caregivers.

Informing and inspiring hope

The strength of Illumina November lies in combining solidarity with accurate information. Key messages include:

  • Warning signs: Persistent cough, blood in sputum, chest pain, and shortness of breath should prompt immediate medical evaluation.
  • Early diagnosis: Screening with low-dose CT scans detects tumors at an early stage, significantly improving treatment outcomes.
  • New therapies: Advances in immunotherapy and targeted treatments enable patients to manage the disease effectively, enhancing quality of life.
  • Longer survival: A combination of molecular testing and innovative treatments is transforming lung cancer from a death sentence into a challenge to face with confidence.

A future without fear

ALCASE Italia aims to ensure that lung cancer no longer evokes fear but is addressed with awareness, science, and solidarity. Supported by sponsors like Pierre Fabre Pharma and Takeda Italia, the campaign shines brighter each year, symbolizing hope and resilience.
