The digital transformation of Italian companies continues to evolve, with some surprises. According to the SmartiveMap Observatory, sustainability and legal departments lead in adaptability, while IT and sales struggle to keep pace. Surprisingly, boomers and GenX show greater flexibility compared to Zoomers and Millennials, who prioritize well-being and work-life balance.
Insights from the SmartiveMap Observatory: Italy’s digital evolution
The Observatory, created by Smartive, Italy’s first change management company dedicated to digital transformation, surveyed over 28,000 participants. Using the people analytics tool SmartiveMap, recognized as a best practice by the EU’s JRC, the data highlights improvements in sectors like logistics and supply chain, while marketing and HR need better proficiency in analytics and innovative tools such as AI.
Artificial intelligence in HR: SMEs taking the lead
Adoption of AI in HR is rising, with 41.5% of Italian HR managers confirming its use. SMEs, due to their agility, are more open to change than larger corporations, accelerating technological innovation.
Competencies and sustainability: 2024 challenges
According to Francesca Montemagno, CEO of Smartive, Italy’s average Smartive Index score improved to 61 in 2024 (from 54 in 2022) but remains below the target of 80. Key challenges include integrating digital skills with sustainability and inclusion, while fostering intercultural competencies to drive collaboration and innovation.
