From December 4 to 18, 2024, Galleria Vittoria in Rome will host the exhibition “Hate War – because there are neither winners nor losers” by German artist Alexandra Kordas. Curated by Daniela Accorsi, this exhibition marks a significant stop in an artistic tour that has already received acclaim in Turin, Venice, Florence, Madrid, and Paris.

A universal message through art

The exhibition delves into the theme of war and its devastating consequences, with a particular focus on its impact on civilians and women. Alexandra Kordas employs art as a powerful tool of social critique, inspired by the “six stages of war” theorized by social psychologist Kurt Lewin. With works that blend figurative and abstract styles, the artist captures the human emotions experienced throughout the different phases of conflict, from its prelude to its tragic conclusion.

The power of symbolism

A central element in Kordas’ works is the cross, a universal symbol of suffering and resilience. Embedded subtly within her colors and forms, the cross becomes a bridge between the tangible and the intangible, encouraging viewers to reflect on the human condition and the scars left by war.

Art as a means of reflection and resistance

Through instinctive brushstrokes and vibrant colors, Alexandra Kordas transforms the canvas into a language that both challenges and inspires. Each piece not only condemns the brutality of conflicts but also celebrates resilience and hope, inviting collective dialogue about peace.

Collaboration and synergy

The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between Accorsi Arte and Galleria Vittoria, a prominent cultural institution in Rome founded in the 1970s. With a history of hosting renowned artists such as Salvador Dalí, Giorgio de Chirico, and Andy Warhol, the gallery continues to be a crossroads of avant-garde and tradition.

Introductory text by Tiziana Todi:
“The synergy among women surrounding this exhibition amplifies the powerful message conveyed by Kordas’ works, resonating with the deepest emotions of the human soul.”
