Gaza under siege: 15 killed in Israeli airstrike, including children

A school used as shelter in Jabalia hit during the night. Netanyahu declares: “No truce, we will intensify combat operations”.

A night of horror: school shelter struck in Jabalia

An Israeli airstrike hit the Fatima Bint Asad school in the Jabalia refugee camp, located in the northern Gaza Strip, reportedly killing at least 15 people, including several children. The news was reported by Al Jazeera Arabic, which stated the building was being used as a civilian shelter. At present, the information has not yet been independently verified.

This tragic incident marks yet another chapter in the ongoing escalation of violence between Israel and the armed group Hamas, with civilians paying the highest price.

Netanyahu: “No truce even after hostage release”

Just hours after Hamas announced the release of 18-year-old Edan Alexander, a dual Israeli-American citizen, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared there would be no ceasefire nor any release of Palestinian detainees in return.

According to Netanyahu’s office, negotiations for the release of the remaining hostages will continue “under enemy fire”, as Israel prepares to intensify its military campaign.

Edan Alexander’s release and rumors of a ceasefire

Israeli military sources, cited by several Hebrew-language media outlets, confirmed preparations are underway to receive Edan Alexander at Reim military base, identified as the primary arrival point. His return is expected around midday, and the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) has reportedly been informed of a possible temporary ceasefire, according to Ynet.

However, Hamas sources have stressed there will be no official ceremony for the release. The situation remains uncertain, with contradictory signals between official announcements and media leaks.
