Hamas’ proposal to international mediators envisions an independent administration for Gaza and hints at a deal for hostage release
A turning point proposal: a technical government for Gaza
Amid escalating military and humanitarian tensions, Hamas has put forward a diplomatic initiative that could reshape the Gaza Strip’s future. According to a Hamas official, the group has proposed to international mediators a comprehensive agreement with Israel. The key point? Gaza would be administered by an independent technical body granted full executive powers, stepping away from direct control by political or militant factions.
It’s a move aimed at reassuring the international community and offering a political solution to one of the most protracted conflicts in the Middle East.
The United States considers Hamas’ role in Gaza’s future
According to Channel 12 and Saudi sources, the United States is considering a proposal that would include Hamas in the post-conflict administration of Gaza, once a ceasefire is reached.
The plan reportedly starts with the release of 10 Israeli hostages in exchange for a temporary truce, opening the door for negotiations on a longer-term and stable governance model.
Egypt reacts: no Israeli ambassador accepted
After Israel confirmed its approval for a new offensive in Gaza, the diplomatic landscape shifted again. Egypt, historically a key mediator in the region, has escalated its stance by rejecting Israel’s ambassador, signaling growing frustration with the current military direction.
A sign of hope: Edan Alexander to be released by Hamas
In a rare diplomatic breakthrough, Hamas officially announced the release of Edan Alexander, an Israeli-American hostage, following recent talks with the United States.
Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Witkoff, is expected to arrive in Israel to oversee the operation, which should happen within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, U.S. special envoy for hostage affairs, Boehler, urged Hamas to also return the bodies of four American citizens still unaccounted for.
Between diplomacy and looming escalation, Gaza stands at a crossroads. The next few days will determine whether the road ahead leads to renewed conflict or to a fragile but possible peace.
