A name linked to a crime that shocked the ’90s

Benedetto Ceraulo, the convicted hitman who murdered Maurizio Gucci in 1995 in Milan, is once again making headlines—this time, for a family tragedy. Now living in Santa Maria a Monte, in Tuscany, he was visited by his 37-year-old son over the Easter weekend.

A family argument turned violent when Ceraulo pulled out a gun and shot his son in the face.

An attempted murder-suicide

After shooting his son, Ceraulo then turned the gun on himself, leaving him in critical condition. His son was injured but is expected to survive.

The small Tuscan town is in shock. While Ceraulo had kept a low profile, his criminal past was not forgotten. Once sentenced to life for the Gucci murder, he had recently been moved to house arrest due to health concerns.

A violent past returns

Maurizio Gucci, heir to the iconic fashion empire, was assassinated in a plot orchestrated by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, who hired Ceraulo to kill him. The case became notorious worldwide, inspiring books, documentaries, and the recent film House of Gucci.

Now, nearly 30 years later, that dark legacy resurfaces, this time with a tragic twist within Ceraulo’s own family.
