Starting December 15, 2024, the official music video for “Matti Like”, the latest single by Francesco e i Passabanda, is available on YouTube and all digital platforms.

Directed by young filmmaker Federico Cavallini, the video pays homage to the cult classic “Young Frankenstein” by Mel Brooks, released exactly 50 years ago. Filmed in black and white at the Rocca Sforzesca of Bagnara di Romagna, the video reimagines the film’s iconic characters, tying them to the song’s theme: the mad chase for likes and social approval. With viral dances and hilarious twists, Dr. Frankenstein and Igor create a creature that becomes a social media sensation.

The project, sponsored by the Municipality of Bagnara di Romagna with the support of Mayor Mattia Galli, involved over 70 extras, including friends and fans of the band. The cast features familiar names like Mirko Cannella, voice actor for Rio in “Money Heist,” and Mauro Asirelli, actor and founder of the Open Improv school. The sets and costumes were enriched by Renato Mancini’s artwork and the talents of Liliana Ceccherini and Chiara Ziveri.

A reggaeton that makes you dance and think
“Matti Like” blends the vibrant rhythm of reggaeton with an ironic take on social media frenzy. Designed to thrive on the platforms it critiques, the song follows the rules of viral hits, combining catchy beats with lyrics that reflect on the obsession with online popularity.

As Francesco says: “I waited so long to release a reggaeton track that the genre is already outdated! That’s exactly why this song represents me so well.”

The artistic vision of Francesco e i Passabanda
Led by Romagna-based singer-songwriter Francesco Malagutti, Francesco e i Passabanda is known for blending irony with musical experimentation. Inspired by the technical term “passband,” the band acts as a creative filter, transforming Francesco’s ideas into unique songs. A decade-long collaboration with artists like Mauro Asirelli has allowed the project to craft music videos that entertain while sparking thought.
