Husband arrested in Campobasso after fleeing with their two children
The tragedy in Paupisi
A 49-year-old woman was found dead in her home in Paupisi, a small town in the province of Benevento. Her body bore multiple head injuries caused by stones. According to investigators, the alleged killer is her 58-year-old husband, who attacked her after a violent argument.
The escape and arrest
Following the murder, the man fled with their two teenage children, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl. Carabinieri tracked him down hours later and arrested him in Campobasso.
The children’s condition
The teenagers have been placed under the care of social services. Authorities are checking their psychological and health conditions, given the trauma they experienced.
A shocked community
The small community of Paupisi is devastated. Neighbors and friends described the victim as a devoted mother, very close to her children. This femicide adds to the tragic list of women killed in Italy within family contexts.
