A large-scale operation
In the heart of Fontanelle, a neighborhood in Trapani, the Carabinieri from the local unit, supported by firefighters, dismantled a drug bunker located in via Rodolico. The operation, involving 50 officers, led to the arrest of a 61-year-old man and two minors aged 16 and 17.
The site had been turned into a round-the-clock drug supermarket, fortified with iron grates, armored doors, and a sophisticated surveillance system ensuring continuous and secure operations.
How the drug bunker operated
The unlawfully occupied house was set up to enable drug sales through narrow slits in the fortification, allowing payments and handovers. Upon entering, officers found two minors acting as guards, along with an adult pit bull and a puppy in training.
Inside the bunker, the following items were seized:
- Packaged hashish ready for sale
- Materials for producing and packaging crack
- Over €6,000 in cash
- A detailed sales ledger with a price list
In a nearby property, fireworks were discovered, likely used to signal drug availability.
Legal consequences and additional seizures
The fortified property has been seized, and the arrests were confirmed by the judicial authorities. The 61-year-old was placed under house arrest, while the minors were subjected to different measures: one to community custody and the other to house detention.
Additionally, three other individuals were reported for drug possession during the operation. In another house within the same district, the following were confiscated:
- 3 blocks of hashish weighing 300 grams in total
- Precision scales
- Packaging materials
