Thorough investigations against fraud
The Guardia di Finanza in Pesaro and Urbino identified 37 individuals who were fraudulently receiving citizenship income, causing a total loss of over €200,000. The operation also prevented additional fraud of €46,000.
Fraudulent methods uncovered
The investigation revealed numerous irregularities, including:
- Failure to disclose criminal convictions of beneficiaries or their relatives.
- Omission of information about the detention status of some recipients.
- Lack of the required continuous residence in Italy for the last 10 years.
- False declarations about family members to increase benefits.
- Non-disclosure of income from real estate, child support, or online gambling winnings.
Collaboration between institutions
The investigation was carried out in partnership with INPS, leveraging databases and targeted inspections. The goal was to protect resources allocated to poverty relief and ensure social equity.
Protecting public funds
Fighting fraud in the welfare and assistance sectors ensures public funds are used for those truly in need. Every euro taken unlawfully is a loss for the community.
