Cinema, territory, and new generations: the second edition of the festival promoted by Unimpresa and Ciak & Zoom is ready to begin

Cinema that gives space to the invisible

Giving voice to what escapes the eye, telling the shadows that inhabit reality, and highlighting territories and emerging talent: this is the mission of the Ciak & Zoom Award, held in Modugno from May 22 to 24, 2025. Conceived by Gaspare Rizzo and co-directed by Erica Favia, the festival is promoted by Unimpresa CinemaCiak e Zoom Contro Sviluppo, and MoveArt, with the support of major institutions including the Italian Ministry of CultureRegione Puglia, the Giffoni Film Festival, and the Puglia Film Commission.

A festival that connects cinema and community

For three days, Modugno will become a widespread set: from the Perrone Library to Palazzo Santacroce, from Piazza Romita Vescovo to Corso Umberto I and Lino Cavallo Hall, these symbolic places will host film screenings, concerts, exhibitions, masterclasses, theater performances, and talks with students and professionals. An immersive journey that makes cinema a tool of social dialogue, connecting young creatives with industry veterans, and invisible stories with the spotlight.

“The Presences”: the 2025 theme

The second edition revolves around the theme “The Presences”: an invitation to explore what remains in the background yet deeply influences our reality. The competition includes award-winning works such as “Nina” by Arianna Mattioli“Misto” by Alessandro D’Ambrosi and Santa De Santis“Ronzio” by Niccolò Donatini, and “Via delle Rose 36” by Kristian Xipolias.

A high-profile jury for young visions

The films will be judged by a prestigious jury chaired by Angela Bianca Saponari, film critic and professor, and joined by director Michele Bia and critic Carmen Albergo. Awards include Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Actresstechnical prizesspecial mentions, the Audience Award, and the prestigious “De Feo” Award – City of Modugno, named after Modugno-born screenwriter Sandro De Feo.

Guests and exhibitions: cinema meets art

Special guests include actress Manuela Ventura, director Toni D’Angelo, cinematographer Rocco Marra, 3D artist Gennaro Esposito, singer-songwriter Maninni, and the eclectic Mingo De Pasquale, who will host the closing ceremony. The event opens with two exhibitions: “Distopicità” by Valeria Massari and one dedicated to Sandro De Feo, with a special award named in his honor.

A project for culture, economy, and inclusion

Supported by Unimpresa, Ciak & Zoom confirms itself as a creative and multidisciplinary platform, able to connect territories, emerging talents, institutions, and create cultural, social, and economic value. Thanks to the support of the Giffoni Film Festival, education also finds its space: on May 23, school matinées will be led by director Jacopo Gubitosi, with a talk on the social role of cinema.
