The incident on R17690: assault on the conductor
On November 18, a serious incident occurred on regional train 17690, which connects Porretta Terme to Pianoro. The 53-year-old conductor was checking tickets when a young passenger, a 15-year-old boy, reacted violently to the request to show his ticket.
Description of the assault
The boy, described as tall, wearing white pants and a black jacket, became angry and attacked the conductor, knocking him onto the seats and punching him in the face. Despite his serious injuries, the conductor managed to get up with the help of passengers and informed the relevant authorities.
Investigations and identification of the assailant
The investigation, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Vergato station, with the support of the Carabinieri of the Mobile Operational Unit, led to the identification of the young assailant. The 15-year-old foreigner has been reported for resisting a public official, aggravated personal injury, and disruption of public service.
The consequences for the victim
Despite his injuries, the conductor followed emergency procedures, notifying the authorities and receiving medical assistance. He was taken to the Porretta Terme Hospital, where he was examined and treated, with a prognosis of 14 days.
The assault has sparked outrage among travelers and authorities. The investigation is now complete, and the case has been handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Juvenile Court of Bologna.
