While in New York, Meloni held talks with Sundar Pichai of Google-Alphabet, Greg Brown of Motorola, and Sam Altman of OpenAI. The discussions revolved around potential investments in Italy, with the tech leaders expressing interest in collaborating. They highlighted the high level of education in Italian universities, particularly in engineering, and expressed willingness to share their expertise with Italian companies.
Future prospects
The discussions also touched on potential collaborations with Italian start-ups, signaling possible new partnerships. Meloni received an award from the Atlantic Council, presented by Elon Musk, with whom she also discussed the future of Starlink and satellite internet in Italy.
Italy’s role in multilateralism
In addition to AI, Meloni reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to multilateralism and strongly condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
