When love ends and mystery begins: the third episode of Imma Tataranni

    An investigation shaking up Matera

On Sunday, March 9, in prime time on Rai1, fans of Imma Tataranni – Sostituto Procuratore are in for another thrilling episode full of emotions and unexpected twists. The series, a coproduction of Rai Fiction, IBC Movie, and Rai Com, with support from the Basilicata Region and the Lucana Film Commission, continues to captivate audiences with its gripping storytelling, blending crime and personal introspection. Vanessa Scalera returns as the fearless prosecutor of Matera, loved for her sharp wit and relentless pursuit of justice.

    A wedding, a tragedy, and a farewell

The episode titled “When Love Ends” promises to be one of the most intense of the season. After the arrest of the dangerous fugitive Latronico (Nello Mascia), the undercover investigation of Calogiuri (Alessio Lapice) comes to an end. Forced to leave Matera for his safety, his departure leaves Imma in a storm of conflicting emotions. Meanwhile, Pietro (Massimiliano Gallo) finds solace in his friendship with Vasco Parisi (Tommaso Ragno), while all of Matera gathers to celebrate D’Antonio’s (Elvira Zingone) wedding. However, the joyous occasion takes a dark turn when Aurelio Sansevero, known as the Red Baron (Adolfo Margiotta), is murdered, casting a cloud of mystery over the event.

    A double betrayal for Imma

Beyond the investigation, Imma faces a personal crisis like never before. Pietro asks her to start the divorce proceedings, marking the end of a seemingly solid marriage. To make matters worse, her daughter Valentina (Alice Azzariti) accidentally discovers her secret affair with Calogiuri, forcing Imma to confront the fallout of her choices. Between professional duties and family turmoil, the Matera prosecutor must navigate the storm while the city awaits the resolution of the Red Baron’s murder.

    A well-established success

The fourth season of Imma Tataranni – Sostituto Procuratore, inspired by the novels of Mariolina Venezia, continues to keep millions glued to their screens. Under the direction of Francesco Amato, and produced by Rai Fiction, IBC Movie, and Rai Com, the series once again delivers an engaging narrative that blends crime, personal drama, and the unmistakable atmosphere of Matera. With four 100-minute episodes, the show reaffirms its place as one of the biggest successes on Italian television.

  • Leopardi – the poet of the infinite: a Rai1 event miniseries

Leopardi – the poet of the infinite: a Rai1 event miniseries

The Rai1 event miniseries, Leopardi – The Poet of the Infinite, premieres in prime time on January 7 and 8, 2025. Directed by Sergio Rubini, this ambitious production is a collaboration between Rai Fiction, IBC Movie, Rai Com, and Oplon Film. After its world premiere at the Venice Biennale, the series aims to present Giacomo Leopardi as a compelling figure for new generations.

A genius ahead of his time

This series portrays Leopardi as a brilliant poet, transcending his celebrated verses. Leopardi – The Poet of the Infinite introduces him as an exuberant enfant prodige, far removed from the cliché of a reclusive scholar. Sergio Rubini, in his television directorial debut, highlights a vibrant and rebellious personality who engages with the major themes of his time: love, politics, and the contradictions of the Italian Risorgimento.

The stellar cast breathes life into the key figures of the poet’s life. Leonardo Maltese stars as Leopardi, while Alessio Boni plays his father Monaldo. Valentina Cervi, Giusy Buscemi, and Cristiano Caccamo deliver powerful performances in supporting roles.

    A journey through Italy

The miniseries is a grand period production, filmed in some of Italy’s most picturesque locations, including Leopardi’s hometown of Recanati, the Marche region, Puglia, Mantua, Turin, Rome, Naples, and Bologna. The result is a visually and narratively immersive experience that celebrates Italian culture and historical heritage.

    Why watch this miniseries

Leopardi – The Poet of the Infinite is more than a biographical work; it is a tribute to the modernity of Leopardi’s thought. His verses and reflections, deeply relevant today, offer audiences insights into the challenges of our time. This series invites viewers to discover, or rediscover, one of Italy’s greatest literary geniuses, capable of moving and surprising them.

Don’t miss this extraordinary production, airing on Tuesday, January 7, and Wednesday, January 8, in prime time on Rai1.

  • TV audience measurement evolves: Auditel launches Total Audience

TV audience measurement evolves: Auditel launches Total Audience

Starting Monday, December 30, the Italian TV landscape is set for a revolution with the introduction of Auditel’s Total Audience. This new standard marks a decisive step toward integrated TV audience measurement, encompassing not only traditional TVs, but also digital devices like smartphones, tablets, PCs, and Smart TVs.

The Total Audience will enable a more precise and detailed analysis of media consumption, involving over 26 million Italian households. This shift will directly influence €4.3 billion in advertising investments, providing publishers, advertisers, and media agencies with a strategic tool to better understand viewer behavior.

According to the Unimpresa research center, the system integrates sample-based and census-based data collected through the Auditel SuperPanel. The data includes Live, Video On Demand (VOD), and Time Shifted Viewing (TSV) metrics, offering a comprehensive view of content consumption across all devices.

Giovanna Ferrara, president of Unimpresa, highlights the significance of this innovation for the advertising market and the broader economic ecosystem:

“The Total Audience creates extraordinary opportunities to enhance investment planning and support targeted and sustainable growth. Industry players must fully leverage this tool to successfully navigate the challenges of a rapidly evolving media landscape.”

With unified measurements, publishers, advertisers, and economic operators will gain access to more transparent and comprehensive data, improving audience analysis and planning strategies.
