A Guardia di Finanza operation to protect the environment and safety
The Guardia di Finanza Provincial Command of Perugia has seized an area of approximately 3000 square meters near Spoleto, used as a scrapyard and storage for car spare parts. The operation, supported by the Civitavecchia Air-Sea Operations Unit, uncovered over 200 stacked vehicles along with hazardous waste, including lead batteries, metals, and electrical equipment, improperly handled according to environmental regulations.
Environmental and workplace safety violations
Investigations revealed serious breaches of the environmental code and regulations on end-of-life vehicles. The hazardous waste, such as mechanical parts and residual oils, had not been secured, posing risks to the environment and health. Furthermore, the unprocessed vehicles were stacked haphazardly, creating unsafe conditions for employees and violating Legislative Decree no. 81/2008 on workplace safety.
The role of the Guardia di Finanza
Thanks to aerial surveillance by the Air-Sea Operations Unit, the area was identified and seized. The company’s owner was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Spoleto. This intervention highlights the Guardia di Finanza’s commitment to environmental protection, preventing illegal activities, and ensuring fair competition.
Presumption of innocence
