Law enforcement authorities have carried out a significant operation against home burglaries, resulting in the arrest of five individuals. The Carabinieri of the Frascati Company, with the support of colleagues from the Frascati and Rome Group, executed a pre-trial detention order issued by the Velletri Court at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office. Among the arrested, three were already in custody for other crimes.
The investigation is the outcome of extensive police work, coordinated by the Judicial Authority, aimed at combating property crimes. These offenses had already been under scrutiny in the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by the Prefect of Rome, Lamberto Giannini. The goal was to dismantle one of the most active criminal groups in Grottaferrata and the capital, specializing in home burglaries and robberies targeting elderly and vulnerable individuals.
The inquiry revealed a well-structured criminal network, where each member had a defined role. Some were responsible for selecting the areas and houses to target, while others carried out the actual break-ins and thefts. The gang’s modus operandi was based on meticulous planning and the selection of easy victims, who felt safe in their own homes.
The restrictive measures for those not already in custody were carried out in a Roma camp on the outskirts of Rome. However, the investigation is still in the preliminary phase, meaning that the suspects must be considered innocent until proven guilty by a final court ruling.
