From Mattarella’s praise to Crosetto’s tribute: the Alpini reaffirm their irreplaceable role in defense, peace, and solidarity
A living symbol of honor and duty
The Alpini, as President Sergio Mattarella recalled, have always been an example of honor, humanity, and duty. In his message for the 96th National Gathering of the Alpini, he praised their unwavering presence both within Italy and abroad in international missions, where they contribute to citizens’ safety with professionalism and heart.
The event in Biella reaffirmed the deep bond between the Alpini and the Italian people, rooted in fraternity and solidarity.
A patriotic mission: the role in civil protection
Mattarella also highlighted the Alpini’s essential role within the Italian Civil Protection system, calling it “a testament to their patriotic commitment”. Whether responding to earthquakes or health emergencies, the Alpini are among the first to act, driven by their spirit of service and compassion.
Crosetto: “The Alpini are peace ambassadors”
Defense Minister Guido Crosetto also paid tribute to the Alpini, saying: “In a world seemingly heading in the wrong direction, the Alpini have been, and continue to be, true peace ambassadors through their involvement in international missions.”
A people’s celebration, despite minor distractions
The parade featured the National Alpini Association’s Medal Banner, which Crosetto called “a tremendous honor.” A brief controversy arose over a few individuals singing “Faccetta nera,” to which the Minister firmly responded: “Four or five time-wasters won’t ruin the celebration for thousands of decent people.”
A legacy to preserve
The Alpini are not just a military corps: they are a moral and human asset to Italy. Their humanitarian missions, support for civil protection, and ongoing commitment to international peace make them an essential presence in our society.
