A simple act can turn into a wave of human warmth and hope. This is exactly what happened with the Vivavittoriainitiative, where women from the ANPS – National Association of the State Police in Nettuno created 200 handmade blankets to support those in need. This nationwide solidarity project reached its peak in Isernia, where these blankets joined thousands of others from across Italy, forming a colorful mosaic of compassion and social commitment.

14,000 blankets to warm the heart of the community

Initially displayed at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Goretti in Nettuno and later in the squares of Isernia, the blankets became part of an unprecedented collective effort: a total of 14,000 handmade pieces gathered thanks to associations from all over Italy. More than just carefully woven fabrics, these blankets represent closeness, affection, and hope.

Fundraising to fight gender violence

Beyond their symbolic value, the Vivavittoria project had a tangible impact: the sale of the blankets raised €29,000, entirely donated to the Liberaluna Anti-Violence Center in Campobasso. This financial support is crucial for those fighting gender-based violence, providing aid to women and children in difficult situations.

The project coordinatorPasqualino De Mattia, expressed deep gratitude to all who participated:

“I am honored to have coordinated this project and to have seen how a simple idea turned into such an important reality. I thank the women of ANPS, the associations that joined, and everyone who contributed their time and effort. This is just the beginning: we will keep working towards a better future.”

The commitment of ANPS women and the need for male participation

The President of ANPS NettunoFrancesco Elviretti, also expressed great satisfaction for the success of the initiative while emphasizing the need for greater male involvement in the fight against gender-based violence:

“I am proud of our female members, who demonstrated incredible dedication and generosity. This project allowed us to make a real difference. However, I regret the lack of male participation: gender violence is an issue that concerns us all, and we men must actively commit to change.”

A message of hope and unity

The Vivavittoria initiative is a shining example of how solidarity and collaboration can make a difference. These handmade blankets are not just objects; they are symbols of warmth, care, and hope, reminding us that together, we can build a better world.
